Whats up guys. So um today. Were gonna be making a video on on vocal isolation.
And like bpi matching and were also going to be covering to find at cabelas and stuff like that this video is way overdue. And i should have done this a lot earlier in my channel. But i feel like now that ive waited this long.
Ive got a few tricks that i picked up along the way so lets just get right into it. This video is going to be separated into two different parts. So the first one is software assisted and the second one will just be purely a queuing and stuff.
Like that just default. Fl studio stuff so before we find the acapella or the song. We want to make into an acapella.
We can review the song that were working with its it was kind of a throwaway at the time so i put it in on my second channel. And its going to be in the description. So lets just hear what it sounds like music so most of the sounds from this song are from my that beats drum kit volume 4 so this is probably gonna need a memphis acapella but so thats what were gonna look up first when i look up a memphis acapella.
I usually just start off by going through the playlists so youre gonna look at memphis vocals. So youre going to find a bunch of playlists here so i dont recommend if to use the songs that are in these playlists. I actually recommend to go onto channels that upload them and find even rare samples so i go and shuffle.
And i just go through and i look for channels that are like most likely to upload something like this so sultanate from the north youll see them a lot. But we can keep digging alright. So i found this channel.
Here. Its called fraser north.
Its like not popular at all and you got like some really rare stuff here so you can just go through and try to find something that we could use okay. I think i found this sample that were gonna use so heres what it sounds like okay were gonna sample this part here music. And yes.
Im aware its loud lord and sudhir claude all right so lets just download. It and see what we could work how we could work with this alright. So we threw it in edison and now we can chop it up or chop up the part that we need alright so after extracting that from edison with this button.
Here you just drag a note. You can double click. It and you can hold this time here so it depends.
Which or how long the the part that you cut out is so its always going to be either four bars here or eight bars or even 16 bars for this case. Its it can either be four bars or eight bars so just drag it out and its gonna lock on you can tell here to all the thick black lines there so lets do this so. Heres what it sounds like music whoa come back come back.
We didnt isolate it yet all right so it sounds very muddy. Because of the base in here. So were gonna use just the default.
I felt studio stuff to try to extract a vocal and first you just assign it to a channel and then youre gonna add a paramedic eq. So all this needs to go here so if you press. The arrow on the right twice you should do this depending on what version.
But you can just find this by going through the presets and youre gonna drag this wheel here until youre around low mid to base so now its gonna remove all this so now we have one of the instruments down now we need to remove percussion and just other in melody. So youre gonna make another paramedic eq. Just to stay organized and now youre gonna try to remove maybe the hats.
So i like to make it super loud just to make sure im removing the right zone. And ill make make it thicker here on the top and then i just remove it so the hats are almost completely gone and now we can add something for the cowbells music.
So the cowbells are almost identical to the vocals frequency wise. So we cant actually remove them so thats the problem thats a main issue with using eqs for isolating vocals. Sometimes a melody is just going to always cut through so thats when you go over to the second step.
But before you do that we can try to boost the vocals by going into high mids to mid. So that seems good enough and when you see it peak. You just need to turn it down a bit and for funk.
We dont actually want the vocals to be the forefront of the beat because like the main point of the genre is that ambient vocals. So were probably gonna add just a reverb here wetness. I like to keep it default like this and a little more decay and then i turn it down to maybe well it depends on what the vocal is but around under this bar.
Here actually remove some decay here that sounds perfect and now. Lets hear what it sounds like with the beat music that sounds really good. But we can make it sound.
Even better by using the second method. So this one requires an external program called rx. 7.
By isotope. So youre gonna do all the steps. All the way up until you added.
These eqs and stuff so we can actually just mute them and then youre gonna double click your chopped sample chopped vocal and youre gonna save it and now its you go over to the isotope program. I couldnt actually get the isotope plug in to work in fl studio. So all i did was i just opened the program like separately so you just take your the sample that you just saved and you drag it in here.
So now you should get your chopped sample in rf7. So you just play it to double check and on the right youll see a bunch of different things you can do to it so sometimes.
Theres gonna be some clipping or some clicking or crackle. So you can actually remove them by clicking these things here but in our case. It sounds good so we can just head down to music rebalance.
So in music rebalance. The default might be a little different than this. But this these are the settings.
I usually use and i mess around with this sensitivity. Here and you can press preview here to see if it works well so we can tell that the vocals are a little wonky. So were gonna maybe up the sense of duty.
So this method actually doesnt work too well with memphis vocals. It works well with mainstream stuff. But we can still work with it so you just press render.
Here and then you render it out export here and you overwrite the original file that you saved from fl studio and all you have to do is drag that file back and drag it in here. And it might mess up the stretching so you just put it back. So this is what it sounds like so you can tell its a lot quieter so you can normalize.
It here and another trick. When you press. The normalize you can tell the the beginning here is a lot louder than the end so if you turn up the end its gonna balance everything out like this.
But that only works when you press normalize. So lets see what this sounds like music. So yeah.
Thats pretty much it for the memphis vocals and now we can try just more modern vocals. So you know exactly how to find these its just just look up any rap song the send your playlist maybe and most of them will work with rx 7.
So this a lot harder to eq so were just gonna skip that step and i can show you how rx. 7. Works and when its in full potential.
Thats trash alright. So lets find a focal that could actually sound good so in my playlist. I have a lot of rap songs.
But none that really would fit the beat. So maybe lets try this one. Its also really good to find rappers that are like underground like bones and like she said boys and stuff because theyre already rapping on like funky beats.
So this should be pretty good music. Its all trial and error. When you do this so its actually good that it doesnt sounds good doesnt sound good because now you just go back to digging and you just try it with different stuff and you keep your experimental and ill be back when i find something that works so after a lot of digging on youtube.
I couldnt find anything so i just got went through my fourth kit and i found a good vocal. So this one here is the one i chose and all these vocals are already isolated by the same method. So i showed in this video.
So i just drag that in and since all of these show. The bpm all you have to do is right click here and go to auto detect type in bpm and then youre going to type in what the bpm is in the file. So its just 125.
And there you drag it here and its going to stretch. So lets hear what this sounds like music all right so thats pretty much it for vocal isolation. So thanks for watching.
And ill see you guys next time all right my skit music. .
